If you don't like the sight of the coloured water, change water twice a week then. The colour is caused by tannin being released from the wood and it's harmless. It makes the water slightly acidic which your pleco should like.
I have my aquarium for 3 months already and just recently i noticed that the water turned yellow in colour, i have changed 30% of the water weekly and even changed the filter from hangon to submersible type with new charcoal but still no change in the water. I have two plants in the tank growing from wood logs i have attached a picture of the plant, could the wood be the cause of yellow water and what should i do? Please advise

Several products on the market can help too. Seachem Purigen, activated carbon, etc.
i did buy the purigen active carbon, but i still have not used it yet though. And since that there are frys in the tank i think i'll try to change the carbon which is the orginal that came with the filter with purigen activated carbon and see how. Will update once i change.
Thanks for the advises.
Good luck! Purigen is not activated carbon though.
Could it be a build up of waste in the gravel? I've had my gravel based tank water turn slightly yellow. But after I vacuumed the gravel the water cleared up.
That's because you changed water.
If the logs are drift woods they are causing the colour change. Driftwoods typically release tannins into the water for some time but it's harmless
the tannins is harmless and reduce the water ph. it is in fact beneficial to your neon tetra as they prefer slight acidic water.
if you really don't like the sight of slight yellowish water, just change water more often...
Lower pH is beneficial for the neons but not the mollies that I see in the pic as well. You just have to increase your water changes if you do not wish to use products like Purigen etc. The driftwood will constantly leach out tannins until a particular point. Probably after a month or two you won't have the brown tint issue anymore.
Fish.. Simply Irresistable
Back to Killies... slowly.
Stormhawk what you said was true the lower ph caused my mollies to act weird and I have no choice but to give to lfs. And I have solved the yellow water problem by changing the sponge to the one I had posted in another thread but seems that with clear water comes another problem, seems like I have a lot to learn in this hobby.
simply goggle and check what ph level will the fish thrive and other considerations like max size and whether they are suitable for community tank etc before buying them.
welcome to the hobby!
i think it the wood and the new water that cause it
thanks for the welcome shingen, guess this saturday i will be going to seaview to buy some new fishes cause my tetra have all perished
