    Hi fellas,

I received a packet of eggs from Mr Didier Pillet a few months ago. He was kind enough to label the wetting date but guess what, it has long passed the given date!!!

I poured out the packet of peat a few days ago, searched through the peat with a torch and still, the eggs are crystal clear. I've wet the eggs a couple of times and the last time I did that, I only hatched out one "kinky" fry.

    Can anybody hazard a guess?

The length of incubation for phasianus was 4 months when I last tried them. These were the Mato Grosso population. However, lately some eggs have been slow in developing. In any case, all of mine turned out to be males. I wish you get luckier than I did. Because this species is fantastic and drastically different than the typical "Simp".

4 months is not that long but I think mine passed that mark. As for the population, I'll leave it be. I asked Didier but he didn't mention anything about it. Not that important anyway.

I figure if anything, just moisten the peat a little. Use a small spray bottle with distilled water. Should have some effect to get the embryos to "wake up".

That's a good idea. Maybe I should try that out.
