yooooo. i have a 55 gallon planted tank with ADA NEW AMAZONIA SOIL. i used API liquid testkit(brand new and expire on 2017) which tests ammonia and ammoNIUM. the result was dark green which is 8ppm .

however , when i used the seachem ammonia alert , it shows yellow. which is 0.02ppm and below. which means it is safe.

i have 7 cardinal and 2 corydoras. have been for 4 days now. no sign of sickness or whatever. if i really do have 8ppm of ammonia , the fish will be dead by now.
so does it means i have high ammonium and no ammonia ? my ph was 6.5 .
the canister filter 1500 L / hr is also a matured filter with over 1 year .

planning to add some discus in. whats your suggestion ? have been doing 30% of WC everyday .

its been 4 days since i add the soil in.

Amazonia soil is highly nutritious soil, your ammonia will jump up immediately, your flora will love it, but your fauna absolutely not.

I did not have fish on my first 4 weeks, other than otto and amano shrimps. They are quite strong with this circumstances.

i was in >10 ppm on my first week, i did minimum 50% wc every other day for the first 2-3weeks, and reduce gradually.
