thinking of adding some cherry shrimps into my 2ft tank.
Is there any special precautions or factors to take care to ensure their smooth entry?
What are their main food source?
Does it hv any biological function in an aquarium or just for decorative purpose.
    thanks.

Just leave the packet floating in your tank for around 15min before you introduce them into your tank. You can also feed your fish at the same time to prevent them from disturbing the newly introduced shrimps.

They will consume algae, loose leaves, died corspes and even left over food that sink. This is their functions beside decorative purposes.

If your tank is stable with hiding places, you will see them multiple.

    Good luck.

Cherry Shrimp are the only shrimp I have in my planted aquarium. They are attractive and very industrious eating a wide variety of algae. Additionaly, they are warm water shrimp unlike the larger Amano shrimp which really is better off at lower temperatures than most planted aquariums are maintained.

    A few things:

They are very sensitive to copper. This means you cannot use any medications with copper in them like aquarisol etc.

Some fish will harass and or eat them. I would be wary of loaches or rams with cherry shrimp. Fish that generally eat snails would probably be best left out of a tank wiht cherry shrimp.

I have adolescent angelfish in my aquarium that seem to ignore them but that could be the exception and not the rule.

Yup, I often see small fries walking unmolested by huge adults right next to it
Oh, the rare old Whale, mid storm and gale. In his ocean home will be. A giant in might, where might is right. And King of the boundless sea.

Actually I meant fish frys. Hope it's not a silly qns, I see my friend's tank, his yamatos are quite aggresive. Just wanna make sure before I spend the cash, cos my tank has Platies and from time to time will have frys...

Another qns, some say Cherry shrimps will eat algae, some say they are decorative at best (read from this and other forums). Seems conflicting...?

    Thanks for any help...
