hi bros, am interested to start my first shrimp tank in my office and went to c328 to look for cherry shrimps but was told out of stock. saw many bags of sakura shrimps but all look like female as most carrying eggs. did not buy any in the end as was hoping to buy some male and female in a bag so they can breed... Any bro bought these shrimps before and have shrimplets from the eggs?

Newbie's question: Sakura shrimps sold in lfs

Bought from them before. I would say their pricing is cheaper than the rest of the LFS that I visited. However, I believe you can buy them and put them in your tank, once the eggs hatched and the shrimplets will grow up and breed again.

Or you can buy them and buy the males from other LFS to breed.

Get their 20 for 16 dollar pack ... Rare but inside is a mixture .. However, they are not very big around 0.8 cm like that .. But i dont know why they keep dying .. wonder is their problem or my water problem ..

The $16 for 20 Sakuras are avaliable in c328. Maybe they already sold out when you are there. Try go on Wednesday late evening. That's the time when they stock up

Newbie's question: Sakura shrimps sold in lfs

If the eggs are already below the shrimp, no longer in the saddle at the back of the head, chances are they are viable fertilized eggs

Only fertile eggs will move to the hind legs/paddles.

Female neocaridina have more solid colour, males are less colourful/solid. Shops will pack them according to colour solidness. However, you may try your luck in LFS which allows manual catching of shrimps to grab a decent male.

Re: Newbie's question: Sakura shrimps sold in lfs

added 5 fire from nks... not sure if there are any male inside cos all looked the same to me

btw, fed them with dymax shrimp pellets and all the shrimps not touching them... fed with hikari sinking pellets before changing to dymax and the shrimp loves it... is dymax shrimp pellets suitable for cherry/sakura/fire? any bro here using it?

if dymax not suitable, any recommendation for economical shrimp pellets for beginner shrimp like my sakura & fire? tia

The only thing untouched by shrimp is crs chili pellets. They didnt even dissolve after a day. Maybe mock food lol.
Buy corina (i think) small tube red color. Very likeable and cheap only $2

dymax one also don't really dissolve or soften... i used a chopstick to flatten them and can still feel the "pressure" as i press against them after soaking 4-5 hrs in the water...
thks for the recommendation, bro, will certainly look out for this corina brand pellets...

Newbie's question: Sakura shrimps sold in lfs

Haha I buy mine in bulk so can't really remember the price, but found it cheaper than most of the "big brands" shrimp food. Actually if the shrimp aren't touching the food, and it doesn't turn soft, highly likely the food has a large amount of vegetable matter and that's why. Shrimp like a bit of meat.
