    Re: Philip LED tube

For Inwares, can we get the complete set from them or we have to provide the lighting set ?

    Hi navanod,
Thanks for sharing. This tubes are very similar to the philips ones and this will work fine since they are design for aquarium use. Just sad that i am using t5 set.

I assume you are using t8 ho previously, how do the led tube match up? Better?

    bravobb,
You'll need to provide the lighting sets, only the T8 LED tubes are sold by the vendor.
I've DIY'ed holders from PVC pipes or you can always mod an existing T8 lightset.

    bennyc,
My previous forays into LED light tubes was disappointing to say the least. They were dim, poor in penetration and fails easily due to sub-standard drivers.
Sometime around 2011, I think the technology finally got to the point where I felt its is bright enough to compete with conventional T5 & T8. Inwares tubes had been "improved" twice since I started buying from them if I recalled correctly.
The electrical connections are now both on the same end of the tube (the other end is a dummy) making wirings shorter. The casing material was also improved to be more sturdy and the light output improved as well.
With 4 tubes running (2x3ft & 2x4ft), the tank can light up the entire room. T8 looks dim by comparison although T5 is still pretty close.

Don't get me wrong, not promoting this certain vendor, but rather just stating my observations that the quality of LED tubes is generally improving due to technological improvement & better economies of scale as more people switches to LED.

Think i need to compare the BEAM brand LED with this DIY LED...
I am thinking of getting a 2 feet LED for planted and it seems both are not cheap either....
But i like LED because they have too many benefits.

    @bravobb,
I have heard a lot of postive reviews on aquaz led lights. It should be cheaper than beamworks and looks better too.

    @ navanod,
So if i am understanding it correctly, the inwares led tube are close to T5 HO's brightness.

    Re: Philip LED tube

Philips Master is a higher grade bulb. Also, when they say their LED is 6500k colour temp, it's usually quite accurate.
A lot of the 'unbranded bulbs', sometimes the color is too yellow or too blue.

Please share where you bought it from? Direct from Philips lighting store in Toa Payoh? I am actually looking for their T5HO bulb.
