Is it alright to have snails in planted tank

other than it look a bit unsightly if the too many snails, just wonder if alright to remove all of them.

What does the snail eat???

Leave a piece of cucumber overnight, remove it (full of snails) the next morning. This is a popular method.

thanks, that's new for me. currently there are 2 type of snail, one looks like those garden snail but tiny and the other looks like a dount with the hole.

use puffers, dun get those figure of 8 1, find for those small small yellow in colour with blue shit dots on the body 1. that will help clear ur snails, but if no snails liao must feed it regularly, if not it will attack ur fish

Another way to remove snails is clown loaches.

I think having snails in your tank is alright although too much of them really make them irriating. If I am not wrong, snails eat algae. so maybe u can treat them as your algae crew.

thanks guys- so mean time i just KIV- see how the snail doing- if over crowding- will do the cucumber way or the clown loach way.

About the cucumber method, i read from a thread that it don't really work.

It will not attract the snails, instead it ends up attracting your shrimps.

Have anyone tried this method and was successful with it.

Put in under a small saucer and leave a little opening for the snails to go in.

Dear all,

I tried this but none of the snails went even near the cucumber. My ottos had a good time though.

I am still battling with snails - currently, I resort to picking them and throwing them away. The smaller ones, I crush them for the fish to eat.

Anyone has any other suggestions besides clown loaches and puffers? I am not particularly keen to introduce them to my tank.

I can't get the cucumber to sink to the bottom...
Maybe have to find a stone or something like that...
Or will it sink after being soaked in water?

What I do is attach a piece of lead - you know, those used to weigh down plants - to the cucumber.

It will sink but how to get the snails to go there??

Maybe my cucumber is bitter. Hahahaha!!!
