Java fern grows much faster when tied down?

Just a random question. Has anyone observed whether Java Fern grows better if it's tied to something rather than just wedged somewhere on the hardscape?

Java ferns grow best on anywhere as long rhizomes is not buried. If bury, gone case.

Java ferns will just anchor itself on rocks, filter pipes, driftwood and etc. Pull the leaves out when there are too much growth. By plucking and pulling - it result in more growth!!!! Its crazy these parasite plant.

Because it's weird... The java fern in my tank isn't growing at all. I only see green nubs on the rhizome and dead and dying leaves everywhere. It's very puzzling.

I don't suppose they are new to the tank, right?

i feel my ferns grow better when tied to dw, maybe its just my imagination...lol

Light too strong with direct contact like the way you shine glosso, is not good - i realize for myself.

No they're not. In fact, I think I bought them from barmby!

The rest of my plants are growing well (nanas and that new 4 leaf clover-type plant). But the Java ferns are down to the rhizomes and roots due to my aggressive trimming and the algae.

Then I do see bright green growth of nubs on the rhizomes, but no new leaves sprouting.

I'll try reducing the lights and see if that kicks things up.

BTW, they do sprout via underside of leaves. Mine did when I started with just one leaf. Do you believe it.

my java fern also tie on draft wood, it grow very fast

It may not grow at all if rhizomes are too old. This is quite unlike Crypts

normally i will trim away all the old leaves, to force the baby leaves grow .

from my experience thinks the java fern needs time to acclimatise to new tank environmnent. thats when the fern attracts bba and sprout babies etc.(possibly self preservation) I think with more CO2 it recovers....
