    Hi Folks,

Recently i bought 15 ss crs and 1 KK (Total 4 bags). Once home, i put all 4 bags into the fishtank. After 1 hr or so, i pour all 4 bags into a small tank and started dripping like 3-4 drops per sec.

After awhile, i notice the KK is not that active. After dripping for like 5-6 hrs, i transferred all including the KK into the main tank. The KK did not survive......

Is KK requirement same as CRS? What could be the reason that the KK died?

When you notice the shrimp is not active, is there anything I can do to like increase its survival rate? When i use my finger to touch the KK, it wasnt really moving. I must touch a few time then the KK slowly move away.

I will put my full tank spec later on.

My fren was telling me to seperately drip the KK from the CRS. Is that the right way?

    Hope someone can enlightment me.

    Thanks

    Re: King Kong

Unless the KK and the CRS came from the same source. They probably had a different parameters. So, what you most probably did was give the KK 2 large parameter changes in a small amount of time when you poured them all into one tank.

    Hi Cheef,

So ya saying its better to do seperate dripping? I should have thought of that -.-

Can only learn from the expensive mistake. Lol.

But is there anything that i could do to salvage the KK? Maybe like putting KK in a small container and blast the air pump?

    Re: King Kong

If the cause was the shock due to the parameters it would be pretty pointless to blast it with an air pump. Honestly I don't really know how to salvage it after it has come to that stage.

whats the water parameter of the water that you are dripping? is your container also inside the tank to keep the water temp low?

I would rather you put all 4 bags in 4 different tank and drip them in.

    Re: King Kong

Hi, sorry to hear that but may be during transaction or when you put in your tank, the shrimp might experience stress or shock as the water parameter is different. Its ok, just learn from mistakes. May be before your purchased ask the breeder's water parameter and see whether there is a large different in parameters. Good luck.

I think he got from LFS since he say buy a few bags. KK probably already stress in the bag at lfs if i not wrong. Probably due to customer of the lfs pulling it up see chuck it back pull out see chuck it back.

    Hi guys,

My tank spec was as follows when i did the dripping

    NO3 : 0
    NO2 : 0
    GH: below 3oD
    KH: 6oD
    PH: 5.8
    CL2: 0
    NH3/NH4: 0.25ppm/L

    Currently it is at

    NO3 : 0
    NO2 : 0
    GH: 4oD to 7oD
    KH: 6oD
    PH: 5.8
    CL2: 0
    NH3/NH4: 0ppm/L

Using JBL test strips, Temp i set at 26 degree

For my current tank status, can support KK & blue bolt?

your parameter totally cannot be 'trusted'.. Because JBL test strips only gives you a range but not actual parameter..

Your GH jump is quite scary.. You have rocks in your tank? Your KH at 6dKH is consider very high but I assume the test strips is not accurate..

Try to get an accurate parameter reading before you jump into much more sensitive (and expensive) shrimps..

    Happy shrimping..

    Hi Alvinchan80

So far the test strip i find it quite accurate... Im using the PH Test pen and the JBL test strips. Will consider getting the solution test kits when i get the higher grade shrimps...

I have no rocks in my tank... Only driftwoods...

What is the recommended KH for CRS KK & Blue Bolt?

If you feel comfortable using the test strips, I guess that's fine..

For me, I considered CRS and KK to be sensitive shrimps in comparison to shrimps like cherry, Sakura and etc..

It has been ages since I measured KH but the range is 1-3dKH..

Accurate as compared to? Many bros here have used that product and have eventually switched to the solution test kits. That must say something.

agree with Bro cheetf, solution test kit like Sera and etc. are better than strips. I stop using strip test as the color part always came off and when the color did not change after i soak it with the aquarium water. May be its expire... i may be wrong with this..

    Re: King Kong

If your parameter is measure correctly , then I think is because of the high temperature.

You mention you drip for 5-6 hours in a small tank , between this time , water in your small tank might have rises up till 27 degree or higher.

So might be temperature that causes the KK to stress and dying.

I've once experience a bkk was left behind in an unchilled 3 ft tank for 2 days after all the other bkk have being transfered over to another tank. No feeding, no airbubble no filtering. Amazingly, it still survived
