SAE/yamato likes the tender new leaves
Recently, I noticed that my four-week old Tenellus leaves appeared to be shredded at the end. I suspect the SAEs are the culprits. Is it possible that SAEs can do that to the leaves?
I notice them chewing the leaves but I was hoping they were looking for algae rather than damage the leaves. The SAEs are about 3" in length and there are three of them.
Apart from them, I have some Yamatoes and Otos but I dont think they could cause the damage.
Any thoughts what I should do?

IME, they occassion nibble on my E. tennelus. Very minimal damage. No problem to me at all.

Thanks for the info. I will try taking out the SAEs for a few days to see whether there are any improvements in the plants.
Hold on with your SAE.
It may be that your ETenullus is converting from land form to water form.
It is normal to see old leaves start to die off during this converting period.
Don't really need to remove your SAE. Once your tenellus grow thick, you will hardly notice those nicks at their ends. Beside, once your tenellus grow thick, you will be trimming them like you are giving them a crew cut.
If your E. tennelus is badly damaged, I don't think that SAE is the culprit.
As some have mentioned, it could be the emmersed leaves shedding away... or it could be some nutrient deficiecny.

sometimes i see my SAE pulling hard on the E tennullus...not chewing on the leaf but pulling off like hair algae...very vigorous as a result sometimes the E tenellus got tear then bubble.
