Very nice... keep me posted on the evolution.

I made this palludarium:
I use some azorean moss:
taken from azores...
Beautifull islands in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, some say that this is what is left of atlantis!
where all this moss come from?
here:
This photos and the moss was the offering of a good friend, thanks MrPCB(Pedro borges),
he visited Azores, and like every excelent aquatic plant grower didn't
hesitate in taking some of this green to continental Portugal
what animals live in here?
Portuguese freshwater shrimp:
Portuguese Newt (Triturus marmoratus pygmaeus):
Hope you did like it!
-light: 2 normal economic bulbs 9w and 12W
-No filter.
-No heater.
Regards!

Inspirational
pleasant! what temp is it roughly at?
Thank you for the kind words!
Now it's at 20ºC more or less...
Regards!
António Vitor
aww... can never achieve that in singapore's climate, unless of course using air-conditioning.
wonderful set up... the newt looks nice too
It's starting to warm here...
Maybe it will get close to 35ºC (maybe even more)
The newts can endure more than 30ºC in the wild...I really don't know about the moss...(In Azores the temperature never reach above 30ºC...never)
I can count 4-5 moss especies...hope I can sustain some of these.
fingers crossed!
A new photo with the newts belly inflated with grindal worms!
Regards!

Looks great, Antonio. Just one newt? It looks like it's still in juvenile stage? I think I can still see its gills?
Anyway, is your tank covered? You might be able to beat the heat if you cover the tank completely (with some holes or gaps for ventilation, of course) and create a water fall or some water turbulence. The trapped moisture will buffer major temperature changes and keep the plants from drying out. At the least, the plants will be a bit more tolerant.
Not sure if you can get the same or similar... I used a small (the smallest I can find in Singapore) Eden brand powerhead (model no 104 or 106, I think) and a short hose to pump water onto a piece of drift wood or against the wall.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
yap, they still have gills!
I will not put any flowing water, I only have 2 newts, a pigmae form of triturus marmoratus, in the south of Iberia this form is usually very small.
(in the last photo you will find 2 newts)
I will not make any Flowing water, nevertheless I can see some evaporation, mostly because of the plant transpiration.
I only have 2 small ventilation gap in the glass, no problem here...
So I think it will work!
because the tank is rather small, I will use only 2 newts, no more than 2...

Will the pigmae form morph to adults? Or will they stay in juvenile form like axolotls (spelling?)?
Darn, they are cute. I didn't notice number 2, as it blended well with the gravel.
Will you be planting anything in water? Plants like saggitaria subulata grow quite slowly in this kind of setup and will not hamper the newts much. Small crypts are possible too.

they will morph into adult form eventually...
should be very similar to a normal marmoratus:
more on this newts here:

I will not have any plant in the aquatic side, only a lotus zenkery with some superficial leafs, look at the size of the lotus...the cold produced tiny leafs...

wow, the adult has a nice color pattern! But too bad we can't get them here in Singapore.
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.
Don't walk behind me as I might not lead, don't walk in front of me as I might not follow. Walk beside me, as my friend.
Mohamad Rohaizal is my name. If it's too hard, use BFG. I don't mind.
New photo from behind...
look at the gills:
I got some videos for you all!
