I saw a few flower stems coming off from my Japonica two weeks ago. See attached.

From what I understand these are flower buds and will not blossom unless they are above the water surface. However, this morning one of these flower stems floated away and at the end of the flower stem there is a small little pouch which has a lot of seeds inside.

I am not sure the seeds are pollinated. Nonetheless, I put them into a translucent plastic pot with moist soil and place it near the window.

    Anybody has similar experience before?

They will flower if they are close to the water surface.
eg. see this thread of another Blyxa species with similar flowers http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ad.php?t=32186

The seeds can grow into new plants. When I used to keep Blyxa aubertii, sometimes I see new plantlets sprout out from new places.

    Thanks Juggler.
I guess the title is misleading due to my typo (I edited the title but it still does not show up correctly on the forum main page… anyway). I mean submersed instead of emersed.

All the while the flower stem is about 9 inches under the water, thus no blossom of flower, but float away with a pouch of seeds attached, which is at the other end of the flower stem.
