hi bro like your driftwood placement, maybe the right one can tilt it slight upwards & shift it slightly to the right as well so that the two woods do not seem like they are together as one, the separation would give you a more 'spacious' center.

maybe you can also remove all the rocks in the middle of the tank and replace them with plants, perhaps some bigger cryptocorne species. the back you can plant densely with stemmed plants such as rotala sp. or ludwigia sp.

and the white rocks, i see 2 of them? they seem a little distracting, perhaps you could remove them or tie them with moss so mask the white color

i believe this tank will turn out very nice once the plants mature and grow bigger, especially the java ferns!

have fun scaping!! do comment on my new scape (also 3weeks old!) as well! HERE IS MY TANK

I notice that the moss on the DW is quite sparse. Maybe you could add more and it will look nice in no time. just my 2 cents. The layout is good. However some of the flora seem out, is it from the old tank? Eg moss ball, white stone... etc.

What main fauna you intend to have?

Potential layout you have there! Just wait for it to grow. IMO i find that Discus pool will deteriorate the water in planted tank fast unless you got yourself a very good filter system, not an idea in planted tank, plants prefer good water condition to make them grow healthily. Usually people kept discus in bare tank or with tough plants, those delicate plant would suffer and die later.

    Thanks for all the comments.

Was already planning to shift the right driftwood more to the right. Waiting for it to completely sink. It still has some buoyancy; currently weighed down by rocks.

Yea I should plant the background more densely. There's actually a E. Rubin behind the right driftwood. When it grows, should provide a good background. Currently on the lookout for good background stem plants.

Are the white rocks really that bad? haha was intending to contrast with the black quartz gravel. And are the moss balls off?

Fauna wise, I'm looking at 50+ Cardinal tetras. Any suggestions?

Will do a re-scape this weekend.

    Stay tuned for more updates!

The tank will look good when it is mature.

The white rocks are Moss Balls are very distracting and doesn't look natural. But who cares? This is your tank!

You can safely include more Cardinal Tetras. 50 will be hardly noticeable in this large tank.

It's been 3 months since I set up this 4 footer. The plants are generally growing very well, especially the phoenix moss and US fissiden. Added fish to my tank too.

Experienced some trouble with GSA and have observed some signs of BBA but so far so good.

The photo on the left was taken in early Jan, while the right hand one was taken in early Feb. Can see the creeping of the fissiden.

I like the variety of the scape and it looks clean. One thing though, the marimo ball looks weird inside lei.

Knowing what plants to get and how to use them is an art.
Aquascaping is a marriage of art and science, the logical and emotional.

Looking good. Although the ball ball seem out of place, the aqua scape has mass in it. The sense of emptiness which is nice when the plants start propagating.
