Have you thought of isolating the mummy in a aged separate tank and maybe provide blackish water in case they give birth to larvae instead of shrimplets? Like the way they breed Yamatos? We have no idea how they reproduces though...

Edit: OH DEAR! I just noticed that one of my Orange Shrimp is pregnant as well!!!! ARRRRGGGG... I hope they produces shrimplets (higher breeding form)... I don't have space for another tank... They are already in a 1 Gallon tank to start with T_T

    Here are the Pictures...

    Ahhhhh....

p/s: Oh well... Can we now assume that the larger, relatively colourless orange shrimps are female?

My pregnant shrimp had just delivered last night, I woke up this morning to see many "larva" on the side of the tank. The mother had also shed its shell with some immature eggs still inside the shell. Wondering have I "induced" the pre-mature birth as I just added in some water to the tank last night...

I got a couple of orange shrimps but one died after i tried traping it down at the bottom as it kept leaping out of it tank. Anyone knows why? Not used to the water in my tank is it?

Anyway, the other one is fine.

So far the orange shrimp still retained its color well. has been about a week since introduced to the tank.

Hope it doesnt get attacked by the yamato though, i apparently just had a cherry shrimp seemingly eaten by the yamato.

I had 2 in my tank since 1 month back. Still maintain their beautiful color. I guess like any other shrimps, water quality plays an important role for them to remain their dark orange color.
    Cheers,

Somehow some of these shrimps lose their colour whereas some don't,wonder if it's simply tank conditions or quality of the shrimps bought originally?
As with Eralf's and veggieboy's pictures, the colouration are a huge difference camera skills and lightings not withstanding.
Waiting to confirm if the orange shrimps breed true?
If it does it'll really be worth getting some as the striing orange colouration goes well with all the other species of shrimps!

My orange shrimp gave 'birth'... well, actually it layed eggs... So now to wait and see if they developes into larvae or shrimplets...

Well, since I have no previous experience with shrimp, I can't tell if they are same size or smaller than eggs of shrimps with high breeding form...

And you know, I'm not even sure if veggie boy's Orange shrimp is the same species as mine... Although colouration isn't a good indicator, but Crystal and my orange shrimps seems much more similar in colouration versus Veggieboy's...

Very sad, the larva from my first batch all did not survive past 3days in freshwater. Now I got another 3 pregnant. I have got some seawater from the beach and filter it crystal clear, hope it works..

i think starting when i put them in for 1-2 days they were fine, but shortly after that 2-3 shrimps starting dying and then continued 1 by 1. Yesterday just died one and i posted a thread about removing dead shrimps in my tank. It became more of a hassle already so just my opinion that orange shrimps not very hardy. I have released 10 tiger shrimps and 10 more cherries in my tank and they are all fine and in fact their colors are very good and showing...just that they like to hide under my DW. lol

Orange shrimp are low breeding form, the eggs will hatch into larvae form and requires brackish water.

You can see in the video (although a bit blur), the eggs are very tiny, different from Cherry shrimp or Crystal Red Shrimp.
