    Hi All,

Is anybody using any models of Dolphin Thermal Mini Chillers?
Like to know its performance and what are the pros/cons & limitations?
What is the biggest tank size it can support?

I would advise you to go for the compressor based chillers instead. At least you can adjust the temperature and how low the temperature can go is not based on the ambient temperature.

1FT cube can easily use a DIY fan, just have to top up water frequently. To be able to "qualify" for chillers, you need a larger tank.

From observation, fan-based chillers can lower temperature by about 2 degress more than fan. But the smallest capacity chiller is a few times more costly than conventional fan.

The trend is of now to go with keeping CRS or fishes with nano tanks, so the up keep for them is generally higher as we all know lower water volume is subjected to higher or more volatile parameters and temperature, so therefore the higher cost in maintaining them.

can the dolphin mini chiller (using dv fan) suit for my 4 gallon nano tank?

    I planning to get one.

my current temp at 23-27c with dv fan.

i hope this dolphin will help in hot weather time as my fan doesnot help much.

    michael,

4g is less than 1FT, 1x 12x12cm fan consuming less than 5w can bring my 1ft down to 25 degrees on average. Check my threads if you are interested at seeing my temp first hand.

    my nano tank

my tank is 30x18X27 cm....13.5 liter or about 4 gallon

I have installed 2x 9x9cm diy clip fan.

the temp is at around 23 - 26c.

But this few day, very hot at afternoon. the temp may shot up at 27 or 28c.

Thus thinking of get chiller to help to reduce heat or high temp
