    a very nice local fish that was never properly appreciated, and never ever available from LFS

    Rasbora cephalotaenia
    Native to Singapore, currently considered [s]extinct[/s] extirpated here. Common in peninsular Malaysia.

    now I need a Rasbora einthovenii to illustrate the differences.
    why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

    Choy... if it is only "extinct" in one area.. the right word should be extirpated. There is no such thing as extinct..but only in singapore.

    Hence your first line should read..

    Rasbora cephalotaenia
    Native to Singapore, currently considered extirpated in Singapore. Common in peninsular Malaysia.

    What nice specimen you have there, uncle choy... Anyway, ask you something rather unrelated, did you actually take pics of them in your planted tank or a special photo tank?

    yes it is a very nice fish. I have them in a planted photo tank, which is a 1ft cube planted at the back with a front empty space to encourage the fishes to swim at a properly lit location.

    I have an Einthoven rasbora~! just wondering, it looks very similar to your fish

    edit : here's a picture of my Einthoven... or maybe it's not? sorry it's blur because the fish was swimming.

    actually they are strikingly different, the band on R. cephalotaenia are clearly composed of spots. I'll go process my einthovenii picture so you can see better.

    ps: hanna you want to edit your text to get rid of all the SMS-lingo before the nasty mods come wipe out your post
