Adding Excel , trace, potassium and phosphorus as per EI
Hi guys,
This is my 1st time doing planted tank as I am a shrimp hobbyist .
I started this on the 31st May . Today is the 5th day of my cycling.
Tank specs:
Tank: 60x30x30
Lights: odyssea evo Led 48watts (9hrs)
Fan: jebo 4 x fan (9 hrs)
Co2 : 2 bps (9hrs)
Filter : Gex hof
Soil : ADA amazonia
Flora:
Windelov
Wisteria
Japanese hairgrass
Glosso
Elodea
Sintang
Any comments are welcome and please help to see what can be done to make my tank nicer hehehe
Questions:
1) my windelov some part if the leave are turning black? Could it be due to too strong lighting?
2) some if my glosso leave turn yellow then became transparent?
3) Elodea are growing bending downwards instead of up straight?
Day 5
Many thanks to bros who helped me (you know who you are) sorry for bugging you

Tank looks good, interested to see how your tank will develop![]()

As long as you see growth there is no need to see pearling. Pearling to me is only an assurance plants are working not a die die must have sight. But having said that pearling does makes the viewer feel good![]()
Everything is doing fine except the Elodea plants are curling down , is it meant to be like that for these plants?
Anyine can give me sime advice on what plants or rocks to put on the right side of my tank , I feel that its quite plain just
having hairgrass and a piece of rock only
Many thanks again

With your hardscape now established on the left side, you can opt for a concave layout. Google concave aquascapes and you should have loads of good references. On another note, with your flora selection, is CO2 really necessary?

You want to get the lawn very quickly I guess.
This is the 1st time im doing planted so I assume glosso and hairgrass need Co2 to strive.
Anyone could tell me what are these black patches in my plants and bog wood?
Its like fine black sand like dirt , the windelov ferns had the most and my ricks also.
Are they black algaes, soil or ??? is it due to long hours if lighting or co2 or weak filtration?
Sorry for asking so much . Please bear with me![]()
And I spotted a 4mm size fast moving dark snail . Dont know how the snail got in there.
Dirt on plant likely to be from the soil, what was stirred up when you planted the tank or when you accidentally poured water in too quickly. Should be able to rub them off with your fingers
I rub with my fingers on bogwood and rocks, and the water become dusty and blur...
But plants the black batch seem like stain , cant get rid . Just like the leaves got burn by fire
Do I have to reduce lighting hours? Ti maybe like 7 or 8 hrs
hmm i find that java fern gets this alot, possibly because of the temperature?

You might be right bro soltari007, cause my timer sets from fan, light and Co2 all in one specific time. On from 3pm till 12 am
Probably in the rest of time water gets warm and tank water is quite still and dead
and doesn't flow much
Strange. ....

you should have mixed glosso and hairgrass more evenly, wait become like rice fields on one side.
early stage planted you can lower the lighting period, if not the growing plants cannot out compete algae. (i take it back if you love cleaning algae away)
Java ferns need sometime to grow well in new water conditions temp/lighting. you can trim some off if it gets real blackish, but note that fern types grow slower. (Windelov/Java fern)
not sure if anyone pointed this out but how come your HOF to one side of the tank?
btw, sorry cannot whatsapp too much. i still want my day job, don't want to be whatsapp or post in forum when boss is sitting 3 meters from me.![]()

Hi felix. Many thanks for the advice both what sapp and here, I will see what I can do on the so call rice field you mention hahaha , quite true . I will try to see if I can mix anot .
Ya the reason I put my HOF at the very corner to right because of the inlet , I cant put on the right as the inlet will be in the centre of the tank quite awful, but where should I put then??
Throw in Amano shrimps, they will help clear the "dust" without blurring your water. If those spots are algae, than you need to cut down the lightings. Windelov is an easy fern, its baby leaves will soon overtake the ugly parent leaves and formed into a nice green ball.
I find your Sintang very cute, sitting pretty and alone there.![]()
