Old eheim 2217

I recieve a 5 year old 2217 from a friend.. Just wondering if the motor weakens after years of long use? And if i were to change the impeller, will the flow rate still be as good as a new set? Please advise.. Thanks..

I don't think the motor will weaken since it doesn't move. Usually the impeller and impeller shaft will wear and tear and will need replacement.

I see.. At age of 5, will there be a chance of it breaking down? I wont want it to stop functioning once i start using it..

Dont leave it to chance! just replace and you can avoid the inconvenince of changing parts when the tank is up and running.

Very rare for that to happen. Aquarama usually has the classic canister running since years ago being showcase during the event. You might want to get a spare impeller and o-ring to though in case the current ones can't make it.

My "old" 2213 is now at least 10 yrs old. I bought it when I was in Primary school, it's been through 2 impellers (plus shafts that I got as a set) and a couple of O-rings and even a motor housing (the outlet cracked just recently), but the motor itself still runs good.

It should still be good even at year 5. My 2222,i bought on year 2000/2001 if i am not mistaken and it still work like a champ.
You just need to change the rubber spares,impeller and shaft.

Serangoon PetMart is where I turn to if I want to look for Eheim spares. If they do not have the parts, they might request from Qian Hu.
