CO2, CO2 and CO2.
DIY CO2 and a pH of 6-6.5 is an awful wide range, you need something that can test to 0.2pH units and make sure that the CO2 is actually 20-30ppm whuile the lights are on for the entire time.
You need to measure the am and pm pH's right before the light go off.
You also need to make sure the daily differences are adequate also as DIY CO2 declines with time during the week.
Use two bottles of brew and alternate changing them each week etc.
You need to stay on top of the CO2.

Will probably do the same for my java moss but would like to find out what's causing this outbreak as I've never had problems with algae except for spot algae on my tank walls.
