Try getting another male but not too big. Hope theypair up
I am so sad and pissed off at the same time. I have been cleaning and revamping my apisto panduro tank over the past week and in due course, I shifted the pair to a spare 10g tank.
They have been there for almost a week while I was awaiting their previous tank to be cycled. I made such a nice habitat with floating plants etc.. and was so eager to see them in their new home.
Today, the nitrite level was zero and just when i was about to shift them in, i found the male missing. He jumped out of the tank during the day.Yesterday, my girlfriend and I were having a look at him and he had become so nice and colorful (maturing I guess). They were such a good match for each other.
So, i am left with a female. Can she live on her own?
How do i find only one male for her or should i get a pair again? I am not even sure the new male and female may get along this time.
cheers

hi bro Incredible319
Male died, not a problem because apistos are mostly sold in pairs. So, you will end up with 1 male & 2 females. Only issue is that you may need a bigger tank.
Having said that, I have successfully kept 1 male & 2 females Trifasciatas in a 1 ft Ocean Free tank & one of the females spawned & I kept the fries in the same tank until they were 3 weeks old.
Much depends on the character of the apistos you have. It's weird but different fish (even for the same species) have different characters.
hey bros,
thks for the tips. Ok, i will do so then. In case they fight, i may have to move the female in a much bigger tank (a 3ft one). I will have a look out for this..
cheers
Occasionally, some shops may sell you just the male alone, but you have to ask. If you get another pair, you have 2 chances at a compatible pair forming, so might as well get another pair. The female can live by herself for the time being.
Fish.. Simply Irresistable
Back to Killies... slowly.
yes, i am going to get another pair instead..
hi bro Incredible319
I think you can get a pair pre-order from Stones. However, he may not entertain if order is small. One option for you is to tongpang me - as I tend to order a lot. However, I don't think I am ordering in the next 2-3 weeks.
