i have this problem in my 1.5ft tank. everytime i put in cardinals (ard the 4th time alrdy) they are bound to get whitespots after a few days. they r not stress since the tank is heavily planted and they r eating well and not hiding. may i know what's the reason?

P.S the tank has been stripped off everytime the batch of tetras get whitespot and the tank is cleaned and left to run for 3wks before putting in fishes. my mosquito bororas dont seem to be affected.

im really puzzled. can anyone help?

I suspect that at least one of your LFS sources isn't too good, and the transfer to your tank triggers the infection.... but for ich treatment and eradication, salt is the best choice.... search around this Fauna section for past discussions on dosage and effectiveness.

I notice some fish species are very resistant to ich.... harlequins and boraras never seem to succumb, even when all other tankmates are infected.

    Hi Prec,

I used to have the same problem as you, until I use the Aquaplus by Nutrafin.

The solution not only removes chlorine, chloramine and neutralise heavy metal, but it has also inprove the water quality a lot!

Just a note: I am sure products such as Aquaplus have some interesting active ingredients, but I would encourage hobbyists to learn about how to care for their tanks and pets without having to resort to water modification additives. For myself, I haven't touched antichlorine for years (the only chemicals i add nowadays are NaCO3 for KH and plant food).

chlorine is not the issue, chloramine is.
