    Hi Everybody,

I have recently started a shrimp tank, with a chiller fan and a hanging filter. Although the hanging filter doesn't really create much current, I believe that the chiller fan creates quite some movement on the water surface and the fan is turned on 24/7. As this is a CRS species tank, I am unwilling to add in any fishes as I would like to encourage the breeding of the shrimps. Any one has a solution to this dilemma?

On a side note, anyone knows where to get decently priced A/S Grade CRS, besides C328?

    Thank you!

Weird, non of my post are uploading, i would have to repeat this.

Mosquito lay eggs in still water, so as long as there are water movement on top, you don't have to worry about mosquito. HOB does the "waterfall" effect which create water movement on the surface which of course generate oxygen into the water too as CRS love oxygenated water, if there are really larvae in your tank, you could introduce boraras brigattae which are those small little fish that eats mosquito larvae, they are estimated 95% shrimp safe from many shrimp keeper.

Those CRS in a pack of 5 sold at many LFS have the same price island wide, so go to the one nearest to your house to save on transport fee.

Have to agree with you on the Boraras Brigatte. And the good news to compliment this is that they won't hurt your CRS too.

Thank you for the advice but I've done a little research on Them and some people have observed them feeding on shrimplets.... I would not like to risk that. Is this the only solution?

Yes they do feed, that is why I have mentioned 95% safe, the other 5% depends on your hiding area and space in the tank, I have rarely seen any of mine swim to the bottom.

They are definitely the safest when it comes to mosquito larvae, the rest of the fishes are much more aggressive. I have tried many and my death counts are high. Unless there are fishes that I have not tried.
