Hi Guys, I am planning set up a tank with the following basicequipment,
but I am not sure if I have make the right equipment choicesand would like to seek for your kind advice….. before I proceed to purchase them.
Tank size : 3ft x 2 ft x 2 ft
Co2 : ANS advanced set up by LFS
Chiller : Hailea HC 300A
Filter : Eheim 2075
Lights : Maxspect Razor 160w 8000k
Substrate : ADA Aqua Soil Amazonia
Thanks, looking forward to suggestions and advice
thanks Everlance.....
the eheim 2075 had a leaking problem some time back. not sure whether the issue had been fixed.
not too sure about the CO2 system, how many litres of CO2 can it hold? i recommend at least a 3litre to my friends. And of course, i recommend a solenoid based co2 system as well.
lights and chiller should be ok. have fun!

Thanks again...I notice alot of recommendations is on the Classic rather then Pro 3.......curious to learn why![]()
The classic series are cheaper (so you can buy larger models or get more of them to maximize filtration volume at the equivalent cost) and the units aren't cluttered with all those "extra" features/parts (which are nice to have but not really necessary, without them there is less chance of extra parts getting damaged or faulty).![]()
To share my experience, I have the Eheim Pro3 (202. The prime function is fancy but really not a must. The plastic clips are fragile.
Agree with Urban Aquaria. The classic series are affordable & really robust. It does the job.
thanks to you bros...its really enlighting for me. I am going to re-consider the filter and look into the Classic series..
one more question, is the Classic series flowrate good enought for Hailea HC 300 ? (I don't plan to install an external probe.)
For less combined cost, as an example, you could get 2 x Classic filters... maybe a 2217 (1,000 l/ph and 6L filter volume) and a 2215 (620 l/ph and 4L filter volume) so overall you will have a combined 1,620 l/ph and 10L of filter volume, which is more than just a single 2075 (1,250 l/ph and 6L filter volume). Just hook up the chiller to the 2217.
With 2 filters, you can position the outflow and inflow pipes to effectively cover more areas of the tank, reduce dead-spots and no need to use additional wave maker.
Thanks Urban Aquaria for the advive..... so basically hook up Chiller with 2217 and 2215 on its own separately, right ?
Just pondering, if I were to add an Eheim Universal pump and set up as follow : tank>pump>2217>chiller>tank, would this be any good or beneficial?
I would recommend you to reduce the lights from 1piece of 160W to 2pieces of 120W.
You will get a better spread and coverage this way for your 3ft.
If $$ is your concern, then go for 1piece 120W and 1piece 60W, again for the intent of light spread.
2217 comes with a powerhead, so there's no need to attach a pump before the suction side of 2217. Unless you wnt to get the prefilter version of 2217 you can go with your suggested setup, like what I have now for my 2ft tank.

tank>2217>chiller>tank
would be good.
for a start i recommend you get 1X2217. if the scape induces alot of dead spots (where water circulation is not possible), i would suggest you get a motorhead and place it strategically to alleviate the dead spot.
only if you have a lot of fauna or waste producing livestock, then get the additional 2215.
This is because you are setting up a planted tank. most might not agree with me, for planted tanks, increased biological filtration may be necessary. most softwater plants take up ammonium more readily than nitrates. so plant more!
cheers.

thanks to all bros...really appreciate all the good advice. it clear my doubts & concern.
Most probably I keep it simple for the start like what bro thebladingaquarist suggested.
and I will be going for the classic instead of pro version.
I didn't know there is prefilter version, really learn alot from here...
