    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to create a white base for my tank and I was wondering if sudo reef sand is safe for freshwater usage?

Those selling at C328 without brand, in clear bags, are they safe to use?
Or are they recommendation of other brand of white sands and where can I get them.

    Thanks. (:

So far, i've used Sudo Reef Sand for my freshwater tanks without issues, from my own tests and actual usage i've found that its relatively inert and doesn't seem to affect the water chemistry significantly.

You can check out my test and comparison of it in this thread: http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...Sudo-Reef-Sand!

Btw, do wash the sand thoroughly to clear away any residual dust and contaminants/particles before usage.

For the ones selling at C328 in plain sealed plastic packs without any brand or name, you'll have to check with the LFS aunty or uncle. If in doubt, just do a soak test in a cup of water for 1-2 weeks and see if it affects the water parameters.

Thanks for sharing your test results Urban Aquaria.
I will try to get one bag to test it out.
    Cheers.

Bro Urban Aquaria is right. I saw that post and got some sudo reef sand. Relatively inert. See picture.
You need to check with the LFS what sand is that as I'm stuck with a 10kg bag of crushed coral sand. :/

    Thanks bro krakenwagen.
Yes, I will need to ask the shop first.
But then again, if it does not affect the PH and water perimeters, I guess is okie to use right? (:

Yes. However by the time you check it might be too late to get a refund if unsuitable.
If you are keeping fishes who like 'hard' water and high pH, then crushed coral sand will increase do.
It increases pH and hardness. If you are getting fishes who like neutral pH then it might be a problem.
Most plants can't take too high pH as well. Let me know if you want to take over my coral sand hahaha

Haha, I'm planning to keep fishes around neutral Ph.
Thanks for your offer bro. Cheers

Got a bag of white sand from Seaview some time back. Those in a clear bag and unnamed one also. $2 for a small bag and $6 for a bigger one. Thoroughly wash them for a few time n soak it for a week. Now there are doing fine in the tank . It has been over 3 weeks and all plants, neon tetras, cherry shrimps, horn snails are doing well in it.
