Hello, I would recommend GEX Slim/Power, AquaClear, Fluval C-Series.
There are good reviews on them, being quiet and efficient.
Do remember to get a sponge pre-filter intake to prevent shrimps from being sucked into the filter intake.

Both AquaClear & Fluval C series are from Hagen. What's the differences between the 2 & which one is better (quieter, lower power & easier to maintain)?

How big is your tank? Fluval C series are good but their flow rate is very strong
having the same problem as TS, i'm intending to swap out my Aquacompact for a HOB. But Fluval C-series is simply too strong for my 30cm cube.
anyone know where i can get the AquaClear?
How big is your tank going to be? Why use HOB? Consider say Eden 501 mini external canisters? Much more mech and bio offerings. But if it has to be HOB, Fluval or Otto best.
You may want to consider Ehiem 2041 & 2042

Don't think there is any Eden 501 anymore in Singapore. Heard from Mrs. Toh that Qian Hu no longer brings them in. If you see any, please PM me![]()

You may try your luck for 2nd hand one

There still are 501 around, just have to look around more. I did recently and got my 2nd one after 6 years. Strangely the sponge provided is now white, it was black when I first had it 6 years back. Everything else remains the same. Ista brand is a good alternative if you cant find Eden.
Anyway, to TS, try the Totto HOB range, they are good, I have SS 20cm, far superior to any other in terms of media. But..... Twice or trice the price of a fluval!!
I second the Totto. Go for at least a S size unless you are planning on using it on a really nano tank.
managed to get a aquarclear from c328, apparently is the last piece. love the quality and very surprised that such a product is made in italy.
seems like shiruba have a canister filter similar to eden. maybe can try that?
Why not a sponge filter?
