    Hi all,

appreciate your advice on LED for my 2 ft planted tank.

My my friend wanted to sell me his newly diy led comprises of 12x 3W 6500k led with 6x 3W RGB.

    He is selling for $71.00

im just wondering with this kind of price is best to get off the shelve or shld get from him. As according to him, rgb is good for planted tanks.

If is off the shelve which brand shld I get?

    thks

Yeah, if you compare with buying off-the-shelf LED lights that have similar LED wattage, that DIY LED lightset would be considered cheaper... here is the closest LED light model i could find for comparison:

Other than finding out the exact spectrums of the DIY LEDs... the main thing you need to consider is how well that DIY light is made, and since there is no shop warranty, if any issues arise, either you know how to fix it or know someone who can help you fix it.

There are pros and cons to both as i mentioned in my previous post... its all up to your "risk acceptance level".

Honestly, if you know how to fix the DIY LED lights if anything happens to it (or know someone who can help you fix it), then i'd say its definitely worth giving the DIY LED lights a try... otherwise just go for off-the-shelf lights.
