i found these grey stuff on my rock.
and it came off when i rub them.
what are they?
Looks alot like the powderish grey residue from mineral rocks... maybe it might just be mineral deposits on that particular rock that are leaching out, or the rock is slowly dissolving in the water.
Btw, the rock itself seems to have a layer loose brown soil/sand covering it, was it washed before being put into the tank? Or did that layer appear over time?
was slightly brushed before put into tank. its now inside for about 3 weeks.
I guess its probably those "softer" rocks that gradually dissolve in water, hence the powderish layers appearing.
If its a shrimp tank (and you are keeping the more sensitive species), it might be good to test the GH and TDS every few weeks to check if the rock has any noticeable effects on the water parameters.
Otherwise its not much of an issue, just that the rock will probably become smaller and smaller over time.
