Hello guys, I'm not too familiar with the vast range of shrimp species available. I heard there's a special breed of cherry shrimps aka blue cherry. Are they really rare in locally?
Are there any "cheap shrimps" I can throw into my red cherry tank without any chances of interbreeding? No ghost shrimps or yamato please? Haha. Looking at a mass sea of red is kinda boring at times xD

    Regards,
    Junneh

    Re: Blue Shrimps

I guess you could look at blue pearl shrimps or blue rili shrimps, they are both variants of neocaridina species too. They are available at various LFS, just have to shop around to find them, though some places may like giving them more fanciful names.

They will interbreed with your other neocaridina variants though, so have to factor that in when stocking them.

The other types of shrimps you can mix with red cherry shrimps are: CRS (the lower grade ones can still be quite affordable), malayan shrimps, color shrimps, red nose shrimps, bamboo shrimps etc (even sulawesi shrimps if your pH is more towards neutral to alkaline). They are all different species and will not interbreed.
