I am currently using a canister filter for my 3 * 1.5 * 1.5 tank. The rain bar and inlet pipe is unsightly, thinking to switch to lily pipe for in and out but afraid that the filtration and water distribution not as good as would be coming out from a rainbar, considering the rainbar does helps to keep a good distribution of the c02 when it releases from the diffuser. Any kind souls can advise?

The lily pipe is good at creating surface agitation as well. Its pretty and quite reliable with good flow circulation rate. The cleaning part is the hassle though. If you're afraid that the CO2 distribution is bad, try getting an atomic C02 diffuser (worth the money spend), pretty good compared to the glass diffuser. You just have to place it underneath or near your lily pipe so that it can be sucked into the outflow path.

For lily pipes, the usual recommended placement of the Co2 diffuser is directly opposite the lily pipe outflow, so that the flow pushes all the Co2 bubbles downwards and across the plants on the substrate in a circular pattern.

    Here is a diagram example:

Alternatively, if you want more efficient Co2 diffusion, can look at installing a CO2 reactor along the outflow hose... that will ensure that the Co2 will be 100% dissolved before it exits the outflow pipe and there will be no visible CO2 bubble floating around the tank (aka clear water, no more hazy/misty effect).
