had a problem with BGA a few weeks back.
here's how i got rid of it (advise from Tom Barr).
1. manually remove as much as possible
2. 50% water change
3. dose 15ppm of NO3
4. blackout for 3 days (no lights, no co2, no feeding)
5. 50% water change and dose back NO3. lights and co2 back on.
6. continue to dose NO3 twice a week excluding dose done on weekly water change
have kept co2 levels at >30ppm and BGA and other algaes are kept in check
edit: forgot to mention that i'm using mh lights so you may want to dose NO3 according to your tank setup and bioload. but co2 has to be kept at those levels.
