My orange cherry is holding onto her saddle for more than a week. Just wondering when will she be berried?

    Re: Shrimp's saddle

The saddle as in the thing behind the neck? That exists in all mature females I think. If it doesn't mate with a male, then the eggs will just stay there.

    I think anyway..

Yes. The saddle is a sign of maturity and also is a trait that allows you to determine the gender of the shrimp.
Does this make sense: ~Imperfect Past equals future tense~

So all I need to do is just be patient and wait for her to mate?

Yes. Under optimal conditions, they should mate rather frequently. Perhaps do a WC with cooler water and see if it triggers spawning behaviour?

What do you mean by holding? Do you see eggs? If yes, just got to wait for them to hatch in about 3 weeks time (estimate), if all goes well.

    Re: Shrimp's saddle

I understand that eggs will be at their belly after they mate. What I'm trying to ask is, why is my shrimp not mating as her eggs are still on her back(saddle).
I'm a NSF so this Friday when I'm back home I hope my shrimp will haven berried.
Sorry if I confused any of you, I'm still in the midst of learning the basics of keeping shrimps
