Set up the tank for Chinese New Year, started on 10 Dec last year....

Placement of rocks, hard scaping to look and adjust..

Started planting and flooding a few days later....

for the mc. what I did was to tie mc on small sections of stainless steel mess and place them on the substrate, burying the edges...

added some reddish stem plants in the background few days later...

mc carpet began to spread.... picture taken 30th Jan

This is the tank as of today, 1st March 2016...

small issue with tiny snails, which I am picking them up with pincers, squashing them and the fishes loves eating such... trying to buy 2 assassin snails to rid of the pests...

Nice scape you got there!! Do you mind sharing some of your secrets!
    Fertiliser regime
    Photo period
    Co2 amount
You didn't do the dry start method for your Monte Carlo right?
And btw are your rocks inert?

No secrets..... the tank was started with new substrate, new tank.... rocks are left overs, except for one, the large pointed one slightly on left..... under the substrate is a layer of lava like small stones,... all material bought from East Ocean, where the auntie there recommended what to do... the lights are LED, again bought from EO..... initial photo period was at least 12 hours a day.... now that the tank is stablalised, the lights are on from 18.30 to 0100... CO2 .. 2 bubbles per second... water change 1/4 every week.... adding chemical to remove chlorine... adding liquid fertilizer after water change and also very small amount of Alexgit to control algae.... for feeding the fishes, I do it every other day.....

The MC is not DSM,... planted in patched tied to stainless steel mesh... do not know if rocks are inert, I guess so.... and btw, I did not do any water tests...
