my Wabi Kusa tank is cleaned every 2 days.
Nothing except one plant snail in the tank.
Yesterday added a Indian fern stem from seaview.
But today I found these larvae sticking by the water TOP.
Anyone know what these are?
It looked like ants with striped lower body. It glides...
Please help.

Shouldn't be mosquito larvae right?

Kinda look like flatworms

Getting worse. Throw a fish inside?

Could be backswimmer larvae....cannot really tell from the photos. A clear close-up would help
Most likely the critters hitchhiked in with the new plant from LFS... next time you should really treat and quarantine all new plants before adding them to your tanks.

UA, yes you're right.
this is terrible. I finally took out the wabi Kusa and treated my glass vase with Dettol, bleach and hot water bath.
But I don't see any of these things in my nano tank. 🤔![]()

Dettol and bleach.....that is a lot of strong chemicals! Usually hot water is good as a sterilizer, I never like to use harsh chemicals as any residues would harm live stocks

Yes it's really strong.
but you know what? Even with bleach and Dettol, the parasites still wriggle. Maybe last dying spurt of survival.
so my last straw was hot water.
after that, 2 boiling water baths and through washing with tap water.
Yup I learnt my lesson, the max will be adding a few drops of bleach with hot water. Otherwise hot water will suffice.
