moss.jpgi've tried tying moss on my driftwood and after a couples days later, i noticed that it turns brown and slightly yellow. Part of the tiny leaves on the moss melts off and leave a brown stem behind. i turn on my lights for around 13hrs a day before i go to school and turn it off when i go to bed. Is the lighting too much which causes this to happen or what ??

AND the other thing is i pulled the java moss from a smaller driftwoood and attached it onto the larger piece of driftwood. Did i actually killed the java moss when abstracting it out from the smaller dwood and attached on to another dwood ??

    please help !!

The moss is probably just going through a transition period in your tank... just trim away the melting parts and leave the healthy green parts to grow new fronds. It'll take some time to see positive results.

13 hours is quite long for a regular photo-period, maybe reduce it to 8 hours and see if its better (use a plug timer to program the schedule). Moss don't require as much light, and a moderate photo-period helps to slow down any possible algae issues as the moss grows out.

Its okay to separate java moss and re-attach them on other objects, some parts might get damaged but they are generally hardy enough and will eventually recover in a short time.
