    Re: Planted betta sorority

Hi @alasse just wonder if it's possible to keep multiple Bettas in the same tank? If so, what is a good number and the gender ratio? I'm asking because I always see bettas being kept in solidarity and I have no experience keeping them.

Keeping mutiple females can be done, it doesnt always work though so you need a backup plan. The 5 girls i have in there now get along no problems and have for a while now.

No, adding a male will generally cause war

    Re: Planted betta sorority

War as in the females will pit against each other? Or is the male that is aggressive and pick on the female? Sorry no experience but interested to know their behavior.

Th male may beat them up, or the females may take ti him, all in all, not a good idea

I wouldnt house them with other betta. Depending on the males temperament you possibly could house it with other fish types

    Re: Planted betta sorority

Yes that's right. If you keep a sorority you should have a few but not too little. They will fight at the start to establish the pecking order but it'll be peaceful after. Don't add in a male as the females might beat him up.

Why not change to wild betta instead? They can be kept in a group.

Not all wild betta can be kept as a group. And personally i am not really much of a fan of them. I just find them a bit dull. I prefer the colours of the domestics
