My tank has this brown algae on the front glass, its very tough to remove. I have to use my fingernails to remove them. What type of algae is this? I use to have those green spot algae before but about a week ago this brown algae appeared on the glass. Is it due to low light or lack of CO2? My PH is about 7.2, and the plants are ok,though I observed that one Crypt is on the verge of melting.
BTW,the tank is a 32 gallon with 54 watts of light. I use the Hagen CO2 system (yeast and Sugar). I use Seachem products to dose iron, trace and potassium. I feel like I want to tear the tank down and redo it,I had this tank for 2 years now,the substrate is quartz gravel and it was a fish tank before I converted it to a planted tank. Thanks.

Whats your KH? Poor use of CO2 can cause algae issues...DIY is very prone to it. Maybe some more data on the plant mass/critters/KH/GH and dosing regime will help.
