Hi all, I have so far bought plants from folks here or Tropica 1-2 grow plants but I intend to get some from local LFS which has high chance of getting snail infestation.

May I know how do you guys treat your plants to prevent this? I understand that it is impossible to see those snail eggs.

Re: How to treat new plants to prevent snail infestation?

For new plants I just soak them in a container with ISTA Snail Remover (x10 times overdosed) for an hour, thereafter wash in clean water, inspect them and repeat if necessary. I don't soak overnight, and so far has no problem with snails or limpets.

I've done this with stem plants, Anubias, Buce, moss etc, so far no issues with plants.

I'm more careful with some type of plants, like Blyxa J. I notice the snails love to deposit eggs on the leaves, and it's structure makes inspection challenging.

Nevertheless, prevention is cheaper and easier than cure when it comes to snail infestation! Good luck!
