How should I handle this plant that reaching the water surface?

Hi all gurus, I have this red plant that is growing taller and taller and reached the surface now. Should I just trim off the tip? Or it will just reach its limit (water surface) and stay as it is now?

Secondly, I am wondering is this an indication that my light is not bright enough?

Hi, your red plants appears to be ludwigia glandulosa. The plant may break the water surface and grow taller. If you have a fan blowing on the surface the leaves will probably dry up. If you do not have a fan the plant will just continue to grow.

If you prefer not to have it grow above the water surface you can trim and replant the trimmed portion into the substrate.

Your plants look ok. So I guess the light is sufficient.

Hi brother Zep, so is normal that this ludwigia grow out of surface, partially submerge and partially emerge? Not an indication of not sufficient light at the bottom hoh?

Some plants will grow out of the surface especially those with a thicker stem like ur ludwigia glandulosa. Most of the aquarium plants are actually grown in emersed form in farms before they are sold in LFS.

I would say it's pretty normal.

I don't think your light is a problem. Of course having higher light will mean denser leaves and shorter internode distance.
