That is a lot of light you have there~! You simply do not need that much light to grow plants well. The more light you add, the more demand its on the CO2 (you don't have much from the look of things) and nutrients (probably under dosing as well.). Critter loading is heavy with 3 discus in it! You would need to get a bigger tank for those fishes..they are not going to be happy in such a small tank. All in all, work on the CO2. Remove the peat from the filter and get a reading on the KH...bet it is less than 1 or worst 0. Raise it up to 2-3 or so and make sure it is stable. Add CO2 and drop it to 6.4 for a KH of 3 and keep it there (add some riccia tied to a rock or wood and see if it pearls well 1/2 way through the day with those readings). Oh, do the full photoperiod without the break in between.

discus lay eggs (a pair of siblings and 1 outsider in my tank). Corys too and I can't bear to give all away... figure they should be quite happy but probably lack the exercise. Would have to get rid of the smaller tank first and get this tank right before buying new home for them...
