Hi. I bought 1 cylinder from C328 a couple of years ago and it started to get rusty on the surface. Didn't dare to continue using it and had stopped using it for several months liao... C328 Aunty says the CO2 supplier will not buy back cylinders. What can I do with the cylinder now? It is just sitting there taking up space... Is there anywhere I can sell the cylinder or have it checked and painted or something like that?

I recall reading about a place where you can bring and test your CO2 cylinder for leaks and all that. I'm not sure which forum I read that bit but I think SOXAL?? is the company?
Since its rusty, the only way to deal with rust is to remove it manually and then paint over it. However, it would be wise to fully purge the cylinder before you do any physical work on it.

how bad is the rusting? check if the rust has pitted the surface badly. if the rusting is slight, use sand paper to remove the rust as well to sand down the remaining paint. paint with undercoat and top coat.
bring it for hydrostatic testing. if ok, refill with co2.

Sort of pitted... Like those on stainless steel... hmm... think it IS stainless steel... And it was not painted when I bought it...
I need to know, besides SOXAL, whether there are any companies I can send the cylinder for checks, cleaning and painting...

Can try Chem Gas at Tuas. They also do checking and servicing of cylinders. And on the spot refill as well.

try those lfs which are near your home. check with them if they provide such services. else check with petmart, system & control engg or nature aquarium.Is the company easily accessible by public transport? I dun drive...
stainless steel don't rust unless in a salt laden environment. why not get some sandpaper and remove the rust. it is a simple job. then apply a clear lacquer coating to protect the surface.

SS rust... as long as you dun wipe it clean, it will rust. So, any watermarks, residue, food stains etc (which will result in salts being deposited) will cause SS to rust...
Maybe I'll check with NA... I might be going down this weekend to look see...
