I've been using this cannister for almost 5 years. A few days back, after cleaning the filters and putting the motor head back, water seem to be leaking from point where the motor head meet the cannister. Tried putting the vaseline on the rubber gasket also no use.

I know eheim sell spare parts like the rotor blade, but do they sell the gaskets? Where is the best place in Singapore that has the most Eheim spare parts?

If there's no way to repair, can anyone recommend a cheaper alternative for a 4ft tank? Hows the Atman?

It could be time to change the big square O-ring. Costs $10-$15 I think from PetMart.

If leaking from the intake/output hose area, then it could be the smaller O-rings as described in this thread http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ad.php?t=14797

I once encounter the above problem before, use the "white tape" for water pipe, tied around the gasket. That's wat i did and i'm still using the pump now!

Tentatively you could also try C328, saw a couple of them hanging near the counter -facing to the tanks. Got rack full of Ehiem spare part.
Rememer to bring along those old gasket in case you need to compare one to one......

Interesting... using plumbing tape. You mean you used between the pump and the cannister?

    Ender:

At C328, should be genuine Eheim parts and they should be labelled. Just tell them the model number... can check before going down.

If you are trying the plumbing tape solution, let us know how it goes. Good luck.

my eheim 2028 also having same problem, I guess after long time useage the rubber become thinner and losen that why it cause the leak. I bought a new one cost $22 at Y618, compare the 2 item, the old one since much thinner.

After replaced and test it, result was perfect..no more leaking.

Just wonder after 5 yrs if I having this problem again, will I get the spare part easily? that time maybe Eheim pro VI already.. haha

My eheim 2228 also had this problem after 6yrs plus of useage. At first i paniced cos this was the first time it happened to me. Initially thought the filter gone case liao, but called Petmart to check and they said need to change the O-ring. After changing no more leak.

Yep! Juggler, what i did was to coil the plumbing tape around the gasket around the circumference (peel a certain length and start rolling it into the hole, out & in till it cover the gasket (black to white - remember not too thick and careful roll back to the original position and it would stop the leaking.

Try, if it works thats best - safe some $$

    Hi Ender,
Just bought an Atman 3338 after WAcky's recommendation. I must say for that price, I have no complains. Even if it breaksdown after 2 years, I would have recovered my initial investment.
PS: I have been using Ehiem's products for a long time but because of costs I had to try the atman. I dare suggest you would like it.
Something about the water & the fishes that calms me down.

I bought an Atman 3337 about 2 months ago. The first few days i used it, there were loud sounds coming from the filter. Apparently the impeller is spoilt, later went back to the shop to change it. About a month later i installed the external reactor and the next day it leak from the filter head!! (for your info it has got nothing to do with the O-ring) Also had it changed. Now no more problem. I bought another 3337 which i installed not too long ago and it doesn't have any problem.

I guess it's me being suay the first time round. It's a filter that's value for money and i would still recommend it despite my first time very bad experience with it. Buy it if you're on a tight budget. If not then it'll definately have to be Eheim.
