End of the year. Weather is turning cool. Ich is rampant
if your fish is stress,
if you do not quarantine your new fish, &
if your tank is overcrowded.

Strange.. my tank is overcrowded and runs at 22degrees celcius and i dont quarantine them.. AND i DOnt have ich.
Dont think there is a correlation between ich and temp.

Ich usually appears when fishes are stressed. Occasionally it hitches a ride into your tank via a host fish. I don't see a correlation between temperature and ich too.![]()
Fish.. Simply Irresistable
Back to Killies... slowly.

You may not have ich now, but if you get the itch to get new new fishes and don't quarantine them, you may end up having Ich bigtime.![]()

One of the stress factors leading to the advantage of teh ich protozoan is the sudden drop in water temperature... USUALLY coupled with things like sudden or large change in water parameters, introduction of new fish, fighting, bullying etc...
Think a pure decrease in water temperature due to weather change, if the fish were not newly introduced, should not trigger an ich episode...
My 2 cents ah...![]()

Well.. my point was that it not the temperature. but i know what you mean mike.. new fish = quarantine, but fish in that tank = no quarantine.Originally Posted by elmike
i change water weekly.. temperature increasess from 24 to 27 in a few mineutes.. then about 30mins later its 24 again... no ich there.Originally Posted by Justikanz

Well, that's good news... But try not to... Afterall, it really is a big sudden change... It can be quite stressful... Even humans can get sick if we move in and out of air-conditioned buildings into the 33-35C humid air, esp if we are already not feeling well or stressed out...Originally Posted by ranmasatome

its been going on for more than a year liao leh..but in my situation..i cant help it. but as long as the fish are fine.
my point is, ambient weather changes should not be a triggering factor for ich
i apologize for not stating it clearly in my post
it's very plausible a quick 5 degree drop could stress the fish, but i'd think it'll be coupled with other environmental factors before it becomes a serious problem
