Err... No one knows the effect of salt on plecs?![]()

When doing salt treatment for ich, must fertilization regime be changed, ie reduced?
From the reading of past posts on salt treatment, seems like salt will impede the nutrient uptake by the plants.
Also for pleco and cherry shrimps owners, will salt treatment affect them? Or should I add the salt slowly over an hour so that they are accustomed to the increase in salinity?
One last question. After 1 week of salt dosing @ 1tspn/5 gals, how much salt should be dosed in the 2nd week? Still the same?

I add salt to my pleco tanks all the time. So far, no problem for dosage up to 1 table spoon per 5 gallons or even more sometimes.
Usually the dosage is introduced gradually and repeated if necessary after water change. As for shrimips. I know for a fact that malayan and yamato shrimps can take it. But for cherry shrimps, I'm not to sure.
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

And dosage is every day hor? I seeing some of my mollies scratching themselves against the leaves and driftwood... Gonna start dosing 3 tspn tonite for my 2ft tank... Need to dissolve the salt first or juz dump it in?
Hi,
Do you guys your table salt or aquarium salt? I know aquarium salt is better, but whats the smallest packet/bag that i am able to purchase from LFS?
One of my cardinals has ICH.

Your favorite LFS sells the 2 dollar pack aquarium salt from Ocean Free. That one should be enough...
ahh, thanks.
Will get myself a packet.
