Recently gotten some Lobelia cardinalis from Teo which he claims is big leaves version. I have Lobelia cardinalis before and their leaves are small and round, and grows light green after converting to submersed form (which is purple and green in colour).

Is there more than 1 type of Lobelia cardinalis?

Yes. Apparently there are 2 types. Seems like the smaller leaves are the variant leh... Mine from Teo's also very small. I kinda liked them the way they are now... But I remember Juggler has 1 bigger leaved one...

Yes. I tried the bigger version from Teo before. It grows bigger, longer internodes, thicker stems and oval leaves unlike the normal species which is more compact, has rounder leaves and thinner stems.

Some description here http://www.thekrib.com/Plants/Plants/Lobelia.html but no pics.

Anyway, I still find the regular smaller version nicer. I gave up the big version already. Let us know how yours go.

Geee this is something new. I saw Sam Yick selling "dwarf Lobelia cardinalis" and the leaves are really small Let me try the one from Teo and see what happens. Most of them melted and starting to grow submersed leaves.

Joe, my Lobelia cardinalis will grow submersed leaves while slowly shedding the lower emersed leaves... Not a complete melt...

Here's some converting... Can see the emersed leaves? Are your leaves like that?
