    Hi Guys,
Share with you a internal Co2 reactor, very efficient.

As you can see from the picture, the top portion is design in such a way that when the Co2 enters the chamber, it is immediately jetted down to the lower chamber and at the same time 'broken' into small bubbles. I took out the lower chamber materials as I wanted the flowrate. The bubbles just circulates inside the lower chamber before being flush out. I'm dosing like 1 bps but plant growth is good.

One of the best internal reactors I've tried Check it out, it's by UP- a taiwanese brand I think.

Yup. saw my friend using this in Hong Kong. Got to agree it is very efficient. Virtually did not see any bubbles being expelled. My internal reactor is expelling lots of small bubbles till I installed a chiller. Guess the lower water temperature helps in dissolving the CO2 better. Have not found it in Singapore yet. Any idea where is selling and how much?

Think i saw something similar at NA. How about dennerle cyclo?

A big difference is that dennerle cyclo have 2 outflows. The main outflow is located at the top of the reactor to facilitate water movement and this outflow does not carry dissolve co2. Rather, dissolved co2 is expelled at the bottom outflow of the reactor.

I think this is from UP rite, Michael?
If it's indeed from UP, its quite common in LFS.

Yup, it's quite common. Most of the LFS we frequent should stalk at least one of it. Genes, I use quite alot of dennerle products but in regards to this Co2 reactor, design wise it beats the competition hands down. Got to see it in action to believe. TRy it guys, cheap and really brings a new meaning to efficiency.

This is ther one I designed and is better than this one, a LFs used this one, it's 4x the size and 10X the cost.

DIY etc, I have the entire plans on my site for public view. www.BarrReport.com
cost: 2$ for the tube, 8-9$ for the pump, 50 cents for the tubing etc.
    Time to make: 15 min

This will do better than anything it's size.
    4"x2"

    Regards,
    Tom Barr

    Hi Tom,
Thanks for sharing, I've been experimenting with alot of stuff just to find the right combo for dissolving Co2. I have also tried the model you describe, infact it still is in action now. Great stuff but sometimes it's just that additional motor that I did not cater for...and the fact I'm a lousy DIYer. Anyway, a local LFS has adopted your model and the plants are doing great. Thanks, man.

    Cheers.

Since we are on the topic of reactors, would like to share another design with you guys.

Its a atomizer and reactor design, CO2 is first atomized by the ceramic plate and then mixed with water from the outlet.

I saw it at C328 just now... Price is the usual price for an internal reactor...

This was the reactor I had chosen over the one from UP (featured by Michael).

Initially, it was working fine, but in less than 2mths, the ceramic atomizer came lose. Could be due to the poor QC.

Currently, I am trying out the one from Dymax and Dennerle CycloTurbo 5000.

I find that at more than 2bps the CO2 gas is accumulating fast in this type of reactor that it becames a "trickle filter" where the water just pour and sprinkle on the bio balls all within that empty space full of CO2 gas. But I get 30ppm CO2 anyway so I don't really bother as my lighting level is just 2.8wpg and growth rate is just nice.

Gentlemen, the word here is efficiency. I have tried all the reactors mentioned. The UP model came up tops because of design and price. The dennerle model's only disadvantage was it's size thus affecting volume. The dymax model looks like a replica of dennerle but comes with a diffuser, built quality was poor and design was flawed causing alot of gas to accumulate in the chamber.
Mr Tom barr's design actually works almost the same as the UP model. The motor's thrust replacing the jet design which really breaks down the Co2 bubble.
PS: any supplier reading this thread please don't be offended but some design works and some don't. So I hope you guys will view this constructively.

    Hi MdmBudak,
    Thanks for sharing this.

William, I'm sure Bioplast's reactor is good but give this little guy a try( I'm quite confident you'll be a happy man and a richer one at that too.

Is there any problems with back pressure from the water into the CO2 inlet?

My current UP reactor has this problem... CO2 having a hard time going into the container...

Also, is there a smaller one? For a short tank like a standard 2x1, this is huge!

Arh...you have ask the magic question. My setup is basically the same as the rest except I add an additional check valve just before the reactor say about 20 cm away. That should solve your problem, anyway all of the internal reactors I've tried comes with this problem so the valve is necessary.

Looking at the UP brand reactor, i believe it will probably do a good job diffusing the CO2 but won't it clog up easily with all the ceramics inside?

Aquarius, you did not read my first thread. I use my reactor w/o the media as I wanted the current flow.
