I thought i saw wrongly,
after running my shrimp tank for 2 months, today i saw a rather long.. ( can't tell how long) EARTHWORM ???? in my black ada soil?
I tried to catch it with my long pincers but it was to fast for me and disappear into the soil.
Will this earthworm
(1) eat my moss ?( or dead moss? )
(2) Harm other occupants in the tank? ( lots of cherry shrimps and x1 hillstream loach)
(3) do i need to get it of it, if yes, how?
Thank you for all your advise.
Jake

Hi Jake,
Have you ever fed live tubifex worms in that tank? It could be one of them that survived. And grew big. I had seen one about 2" in my tank before in those days where I fed live tubifex worms.

hi, i'll try to capture it in picture.
I'm it's not tubifex worms, looks more like the sea worms i catch for my fishing.
with small stubby "legs" along the body.
Same thing as the sea one, a bloodline can be seen on it's body.
very fast when alerted.

I've got that before... I believe it came along with my tubifex worms.
Not a good thing to have worms in ADA Aquasoil.. I wouldn't feel good.![]()
if so, i suppose your shrimps will take care of it.![]()

Shrimps didn't take care of it..

looks huge! try using chopsticks or whatever, aim the body middle part and scope it out. Wah, they had lived in your tank for some times already,![]()

"L" plate gardener
Me too.
No live food nothing
My tank is setup just slightly more than a month and i have already!
but mine very small
about 1-2 cm long and as thin as tubifex
saw it moving ard but its too small to catch.....
I thought are flat worm, common found in shrimp tank
mine looks like the one in the pic.
just that its still small......
The small worms in your tank are probably planaria aka flat worm... not the same as the UFO shown in the threadstarter's photos.Originally Posted by lee1224
Jake, just a suggestion, if you encounter the fast-moving UFO again, instead of using tweezer to attempt to catch it (which to me, is analogous to using chopsticks to catch a fly), you can try, using the back of the tweezer or a spoon or something with similar function, to push/shift the UFO up towards the top of the tank and more importantly, away from the substrate. This is to prevent it from escaping into the substrate...
After you have successfully isolated it, you have better chances of capturing it and showing it to the world..![]()
Just my 2 cents opinion..![]()

i go back see again. duinno if can catch sight of them or not
hard to find them. i only noticed them in my tank by pure luck.
After many nights of stalking... i finally caught this $#%$^%
it was unaware that my pincers are aiming for the centre of the body,i pulled it out of the ada soil,it swam.. yes, it swam !!!
trying to barrow down to the soil again..
Caught him and dump him into a tub of water...
Guys.. see if this is the offending things in your tank??

See it being torn to bits by many angry fishes.....

Ew... how long is that critter? Looks like a centipede.![]()
Okay. that disgusting thing is definitely not the one in my tank!!!
hmm couldnt catch sight of mine at all after that single sighting.
wonder if my rasboras ate it... my school of rasboras are hungry little buggers
theres some kind of very small snail which i din bother to identify.
cos i pluck them off the glass with my pincers and drop into the water.
its swallowed by my rasboras in a flash.
if mine are planaria then how do i get rid of it.
what does it do? its harmless i suppose?
anyway maybe ur that disgusting thing is nutricious food.
dice it up and feed the fish
returning it back to nature haha
