There's a article on how to DIY a skimmer for Eden 501 here:

Hi guys,
Saw tcampbell's signature on his setup for his 10 Gallon tank.
He was using a skimmer and an external reactor with the eden 501.
As I have a similar tank size (1.5ft) and using eden as well...
was considering using a skimmer due to being fed up with the ugly looking film on the water surface. tried tilting up the submerged rainbar to have some surface movement and it helped a little, but im hoping to get it much clearer
tcampbell was using a Ista model (Taiwan Company) skimmer. wonder where in SG can we find this.
any other good ones to recommend? preferably not too bulky..
also considering changing to reactor for better co2 dissolving.
im now using a Boyu diffusor situated beneath the rainbar so that the outflow can push the bubbles around the tank.
if use external reactor can then remove the diffusor from the tank (tank will look nicer with no "unnatural" things inside, plus clearer view cos no co2 bubbles blowing around)
also can have better co2
any comments?
any reactor suitable for this?

i might try getting a few pieces of plastic and try it.
although am wondering about how to get the skimmer surface to move in line with the water surface..

anyway i took a look at skimmers at y618 earlier.
saw your skimmer model there as well.
but all the models look bulky.
hoping to reduce bulk in the tank interior
