storing driftwood

i have 2 piece of gorgeous driftwood. but because of my financial difficulties, i am unable to buy a tank setup to house them. Cut short, looking at storing them for at least 2 years from now, should i place them in a tank such that i can have them cured, or should i keep them dry?

my only worries is that keeping them dry might invite unwanted insects that might chew on them. also what is the life span of these woods? those mangrove branchy types?

I guess, if they are completely dried out, you can wrap them up with clear plastic similar to vacuum packing... That will prevent the wood from decomposing or insects from munching on them... I would also suggest occassionally taking them out to sun, just to check the wood...

Not to worry. I have lots of driftwood kept outside the house and they are still fine, no rotting. Whenever i am in the mood to have any of it in the tank, i just pour hot water to kill whatever undesirable living organism in it.

Unless you intend to put the driftwood in a tank which you keep fish and plant and with regular maintenance, it may be worse off having it soak in tank and water. Water can attract more orgainism.
