As it is at a fraction of the price of pressurized CO2 in a cylinder, it can appeal to a targetted group of hobbyists (eg, beginners or not-so-financially-abled) who want to experience injecting CO2 into their tanks. In summary, these products do help to provide some convenience and CO2, even though their contents do not last very long. We agree that they are a packaged DIY method, which some us have been there using yeast before.
