    Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone knows what is the thinnest sapphire glass available for making fish tank. Thinking of ordering a few customised nano tanks.

    Cheers,

It's Starphire Glass, not sapphire glass. Sapphire glass is used for making watches.

If you are considering nano tanks, what is the rational for using Starphire glass?

Given the fact that your light source is not strong and the water may be tinted from the wood, it defeats the purpose. There is no advantage from using color corrected glass such as starphire glass in such small setups.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

    hmmmm....
I always had the impression that Starphire glass is stronger, higher scratch resistance, less distortion and have better clarity.
    Am I wrong about that?
I had no requirement for colour correction. Just hope to invest in some stronger and nicer nano tanks.

Would be great is you could advise more.

Kum sia chuay chuay (thank you very much)

Starphire glass is used more for its optical quality. I don't think it is more scratch resistance or stronger than standard glass.

Sapphire glass is scratch resistant though.

I would be interested to tonpang some custom starphire glass tanks. I'm thinking of two 8" cube, and one 6"×4"×4".
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

starphire lah. I was seriously thinking of 8" cubes as they would be much more maneuverable for cleaning, compared to the 1ft cube now.

Think maybe we can consolidate a order list and appoint a tank maker to make it for us so that's it's more economical for the tank maker to purchase the starphire glass for our tank.

I'm keen to make a 2ft tank starphire tank .. but i think most tank maker wont go through the trouble to make purchase starphire glass just for my 2ft.

Maybe you guys like to put down the list of tank you like to make then we'll get a few quotation from some reputated tank maker since we will have more bargaining power.

    For a start

    1) Spinex - 2 x 1.2 x 1.2 ft braceless black silicon tank. 6mm-10mm glass okay for me.

I saw Wu Hu displaying some nano glass tanks with stunning clarity like ADA tank, but I'm not sure whether it is made of starphire glass.
